iKhethelo Children’s Village: Together Building Brighter Futures

At Energy Drive we take a keen interest in the current events and learning progress at iKhethelo Children’s Village. We were recently updated, by way of a heart-warming letter, on the extent to which technology donations are appreciated. The following details were so encouraging to us and we trust they will move you to action too.

Dear Energy Drive

A few months ago, five children and two staff members tested positive for Covid-19. iKhethelo Children’s Village managed to isolate all their residents successfully and no further spread of infection took place. Fortunately, all staff and children recovered fully and only experienced mild symptoms.

The majority of children have returned to school and are progressing well. Whilst this is good news, all other high school grades are still attending school part-time. They are expected to follow an online learning programme on the days they are at home. We are once again reminded how grateful we are to Energy Drive for the computers, software and equipment that has been donated to iKhethelo Children’s Village over the years. Without your generous support, there is no way that our children would be able to complete the online learning that has been required of them during this pandemic.

Mbali, who received the tablet award, is in matric at Hillcrest High School. Having the tablet that you donated has been so helpful to her, especially for late night studying when the computer room is closed. When I walk into the computer room and see the children taking part in online lessons, I realise how paramount your support has been, in allowing the children to embrace these challenges.

We have also had three graduates from iKhethelo Children’s Village. Lungelo graduated as a fireman, Lungile graduated with a law degree progressing onto an LLB and Zack qualified as an engineer. Several past matriculants are also currently completing qualifications at various institutions. Education really is the key to seeing our children break out of the orphan cycle and Energy Drive has made this a possibility.

Thank you for being such faithful supporters to iKhethelo Children’s Village, we appreciate our partnership with you. Keep safe and well.

Yours Sincerely
The children and staff of iKhethelo Children’s Village
